Monday, July 20th, 2015. BMG: The Ministry of Human Development, Social Transformation and Poverty Alleviation is working toward reducing the number of children and youth joining gangs in Belize City, through its Youth and Community Transformation project.
This project targets specific areas of the city, particularly the Collet, Lake Independence, Pickstock and Port Loyola divisions, teaching life skills and providing positive activities for young people to participate in.
Funded by the Government of Belize, through a loan from the Caribbean Development Bank, this project will be active at participating agencies over the summer holiday.
Location and schedules for these summer workshops, running over the course of a five week period, are as follows:
– Yabra Community Resource Center: July 13 – July 30, 2015 from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. (GREAT SUMMER Life Skills, Expressive Arts and Sports)
– Department of Youth Services: July 20 – July 31, 2015 from 9:00 am to 3pm. (Youth Speak – Poetry)
– Youth Cadet – July 20th – July 24th (Inner City Youth Camp)
– Samuel Haynes Institute of Excellence July 27 – August 14, 2015 from 9am to 3 pm (Sports and Expressive Arts).
