Belizean chosen for President Obama’s Young Leaders of the Americas Initiative

By BBN Staff: A young Belizean entrepreneur from Orange Walk, Hernan Urbina, has been chosen to participate in this year’s Young Leaders of the Americas Initiative (YLAI) hosted by US President Barack Obama. Hernan Urbina

Urbina will be representing Belize in Texas and Washington later this year. He was chosen from a pool of 4,000 applicants from 36 countries.

He will join the YLAI Professional Fellows Program, which aims to empor youths and innovative civil society leaders by strengthening their capacities to launch and advance entrepreneurial ideas contributing to economic development.

In September 250 YLAI Professional Fellows from Latin America and the Caribbean will expand their leadership and entrepreneurial experience through fellowships at businesses and civil society organizations across the US.

Through the YLAI Entrepreneurship Institute and the individualized entrepreneur mentorships that will be offered, YLAI Professional Fellows will accelerate their commercial and social ventures’ success and develop specific action plans to carry out upon return to their home countries. YLAI Professional Fellows will build networks, linkages and lasting partnerships to attract investments and support for their entrepreneurial ventures.
