By BBN Staff: Two senior employees of the San Ignacio Town Council were found sleeping, and by their appearance, allegedly intoxicated in the Great Wall pickup issued to Mayor Earl Trapp.
The vehicle was found parked near the Belize High School of Agriculture in San Lazaro, on the newly paved Blue Creek road leading to Orange Walk. The incident occurred just after 8:00 pm last night and is recorded in a video shared with Breaking Belize News.
The vehicle was improperly parked with half the vehicle on the road and the other half off the road, and the license plates confirm that the vehicle is the one assigned to Mayor Trapp.
In an exclusive interview, Area Representative for Orange Walk South, Jose Mai confirms that there were groceries and Mexican modello beers in the vehicle, giving the indication that the vehicle was possible coming from Belize’s border point with Mexico at La Union.
Breaking Belize News could not confirm if the employees and the vehicle reached back to San Ignacio last night without further incident.
The San Ignacio Town Council and all other Town or City Councils are not considered departments of central government and therefore are not covered by the letter issued earlier this week by the Financial Secretary instructing that all government vehicles be parked after normal working hours.
