By BBN Staff: Police have very limited leads to go on in the Saturday afternoon murder of a Sandhill resident.
Tyrone Davis, 30, was known to the law and had faced charges of aggravated burglary and later, firearm possession.
But it appears he was trying to change his life, or at least live under the radar, when death visited him on Saturday afternoon at the home where he was staying in the village.
Regional Commander for Eastern Division (Rural), Assistant Commissioner Edward Broaster, said Davis’ killer surprised him as he lay in a hammock, shooting him in the throat and arm.
The alleged murder weapon is a twelve-gauge shotgun, of which an expended cartridge was recovered from the scene.
A family member we met in Sandhill today declined to speak on camera but recalled Davis as mostly living a quiet life and seeking to stay out of further trouble.
But they too are as baffled as police to understand who may have wanted Davis dead, and more importantly, why.
They asked us to make note that despite the sudden nature of Davis’ death, they have no interest in further trouble or retaliation for what happened.
Davis is survived by relatives in the United States and in Roaring Creek, Cayo District.
According to police, there is a person of interest in their custody: a teenager, only 19 years of age.
