By Aaron Humes: Director of Public Prosecutions Cheryl-Lynn Vidal has told the media that her office has issued no directions on charges for Director of the Government Press Office Dorian Pakeman in relation to the fatal traffic death of Dean Dawson in March.
The reason for that is continued investigation by both her office and police.
However, she noted that it was not police who gave her office the results of the positive test for cocaine announced this week, which Pakeman strongly denies. It came up from advising counsel who was looking into other issues arising from the police’s evidence. Further queries with the National Forensic Science Service led to the discovery of the test and provision of the results.
DPP Vidal stated that directions are expected shortly, but their investigation into this and other “matters of even greater concern” continues.
