BNTU takes it to the streets

Posted: Wednesday, September 14, 2016. 1:33 p.m. CST.

By Zoila Palma: The Belize National Teachers Union (BNTU) has planned a national demonstration for Monday September 19 in Belmopan.

The union is demanding good governance. They have written to the Prime Minister with a list of seven demands that they believe will cultivate good governance and have given him a deadline to respond by Friday September 16, 2016.

The union will proceed with the mandate given by its members to take industrial action.

On Friday, the teachers are asked to wear their green ‘Teechaz gat yuh back’ tee shirts when parading.

A rally will be held in Belmopan on Monday regardless of the response from the Prime Minister.

The release states that the union has planned a schedule of further industrial action to be taken after Monday but they await the PM’s response to signal activation.

The BNTU made a call to educators to give their full support and to stand up for our country.
