By BBN Staff: The International Regional Organization for Health in Agriculture (OIRSA) on Friday handed over to the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Forestry, Environment and Sustainable Development 82 packs of hybrid tomato and sweet pepper seeds as support to the small farmers that were affected by the passage of Hurricane Earl in early August of this year. The seeds included varieties like Tecun F1 of sweet pepper and for tomato. These varieties are tolerant to the whitefly transmitted Gemini virus and are high yielding. The contribution is valued at $10,000. The Chief Executive Officer in the Ministry of Agriculture received the seed and thanked OIRSA. The seeds come in an opportune time when the farmers are planting these types of seed.

The handing over was done by OIRSA country representative Fermin Blanco and the Chief Agricultural officer, Andrew Harrison.
