By BBN Staff: The Department of Immigration and Nationality Services of Belize issued a statement via social media concerning a report made by Breaking Belize News on September 24, in which a website: ICP Belize, was offering Belize passports for sale.
The release states that there is no programme, intention or discussion of the possibility to offer Belize passports for sale through any Economic Citizenship Programme or any other programme.
In the statement, the Immigration Department says that “the Constitution of Belize was amended to remove any provision to offer such programmes, and the only method of obtaining Belizean nationality by registration or descent is prescribed by law in Chapter 161 of the Belize Nationality Act.”
The Immigration Department further re-assured the public that: “The Department of Immigration does NOT recognize agents and ICP Belize or any of its affiliates are not known to or recognized by this Department, and can in no way secure Belizean nationality on behalf of any person seeking to obtain Belizean Nationality.”
