By BBN Staff: The Development Finance Corporation (DFC) of Belize is hosting an expo this Saturday at the ITVET compound in Belize city.

The ceremony will begin at 9:00 a.m. with the keynote address from Daniel Guitterez from the Prime Minister’s office.

DFC’s General Manager, Natalie Goff and the Assistant General Manager of Lending Operations will also be speaking at the event.

This EXPO serves to feature DFC’s business clients from small business owners (Micro Sector Enterprise) to large multi-million dollar businesses DFC has financed.

DFC is also highlighting Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (RE/EE) because RE/EE or green technology financing is a new line of DFC financing available for businesses to help reduce their costs by investing in becoming more energy efficient.

Partners from the business sector including the Belize Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) and Beltraide will be at the EXPO as well. The Caribbean Community Climate Change Centre will also be present as DFC works along with them in efforts to raise awareness about Climate Change, which connects with DFC’s Renewable Energy Financing.

The Sugar Industry Research and Development Institute, of which DFC works along with in order to provide financing to cane farmers through the Sugar Cane Replanting Program, financed by the European Union and the Toledo Cacao Growers Association will be at the expo.

The event is free and open to the general public. There will also be gate prizes including an overnight stay for two at the Black Orchid Resort including dinner and breakfast and $500 which will be selected at the event at 2:30 p.m. Digicell will be having special offers on their phones at the expo. SMART will be offering double up.

DFC is also catering to children at the expo by having a bouncy house and trampoline. A jingle competition will be held where four local artists will perform live, for a chance to win $1,000. The competition will be at 1:00 p.m.
