By BBN Staff: A film on El Pilar is scheduled to screen this Saturday, October 1st from 9-11 a.m. at the ACC Theatre.
It is entitled El Pilar: Preserving the Maya Legacy.
Archaeologist Anabel Ford rediscovered the ancient Maya city of El Pilar 30 years ago.
She has spent the last three decades exploring and mapping it.
Ford races to preserve not only the forests of El Pilar but also the disappearing history of ancient people as illegal logging and looting threatening the historic and mysterious site.
The very knowledge and traditions of ancient people unless documented and protected, could be lost forever, she says.
