The Pan American Development Foundation on Monday handed over 21 kits of personal protective gear necessary to handle patients infected with the deadly Ebola virus, which saw an outbreak in West Africa and the United States last year.
The Government of Belize last October made headlines when it refused to allow a lab worker flagged for possible contact with the virus at her workplace in Texas to set foot on Belizean soil to be evacuated.
The PADF said the kits contained gowns, gloves, goggles, respirators, masks, bio-hazard bags and other items necessary for health workers to be protected as they tend to possible Ebola patients.
The donation was funded with the assistance of the Republic of China (Taiwan).
