By BBN Staff: A release was issued today informing that the Ministry of Education will be meeting with Managing Authorities to discuss plans for making up a significant portion of instructional time lost as a result of the recent strike. Teachers will be compensated for time made up.
The release quotes the the Education Rules 2000 (SI No. 92 of 2000) which sets out the number of school days for a school year to be 180 days and if the school does not meet the requirement of 180 school days within its regular schedule of school days, then unless otherwise approved in writing by the Chief Education Officer, special arrangements shall be made by such school to fulfill this requirement.
It also declares that any such arrangement must be approved by the Chief Education Officer.
