By BBN Staff: This morning a ceremony was held in Valley of Peace for the official opening of the police station which had been closed for three years.
The new station will aid with police response time as the village is 25 minutes away from Belmopan. The station will be open 24 hours a day.
The village population of almost 3,000 residents will benefit directly from this initiative.
A motorcycle was provided to be used by the assigned officer by the UNHCR and the funds for the re-opening was provided for by the Government.
Present at today’s ceremony were Supt. Howell Gillett, Officer commanding Belmopan police; Sr. Supt. Andrew Ramirez, Western Regional Commander among other law enforcement officers and representatives from UNHCR.
