By BBN Staff: Last night at the UB Gymnasium, the Galen Eagles beat the UB Black Jaguars 75-57 to go to 2-0 in the Western Regional ATLIB Competition.
UB finished the competition with a record of 1-3.
The first quarter began with UB jumping out to an early 13-10 lead. Then with a Julian Thiessen three point and a Bryton Codd layup off an assist from Nigel “Jude” Martinez, it closed off with Galen in a lead of 15-13.
In the second quarter, the Eagles outscored UB 23-10. Five different players scored in the period for the Eagles.
In the third quarter, the UB Black jaguars hit 3-three point shots.
Raul Roches for Galen scored 7 points in the quarter to keep UB at bay.
Eagles pushed their lead heading into the 4th quarter leading 54-37.
Throughout the fourth quarter, UB cut the lead to 10 points midway by connecting on three more three point shots. Kevin Brown scored 8 points in the quarter to finish off the Black Jaguars by the final score of 75-57.
Leading Galen in scoring was Raul Roches with 20 pts, Kevin Brown chipped in with 19 pts including 4 three point shots. Next was Roger Reneau with 11 pts, Bryton Codd with 9pts and Lisani Lambey with 7 pts.
UB was led by Vincente Avila with 13 pts and Raheem Sacasa with 10pts.
The Eagles next game will be Monday, November 14th at Sacred Heart Junior College at 7pm.
