By BBN Staff: On Tuesday, Deputy Officer Commanding San Ignacio Police, Assistant Supt. Daniel Iche and members of the COPP, San Ignacio Branch, conducted a meet and greet in the Santiago Juan Layout area and its outskirts, where 23 homes were visited.

The issues gathered from the community were:

1. The residents visited applauded the efforts of the Police. They stated that crime is very low in the area and they are seeing the Police Officers doing foot patrols within the area which they appreciated. Some even named the officers doing patrol. They requested that the patrols continue.

2. Majority of the residents requested that patrols be conducted more during the night time.

3. All families visited appreciated the meet and greet program and were happy to see the Senior Police Officer going in the area along with the junior officers and meeting with them, listen to their concerns, views and requests.

4. It was noticed that in the outskirt area, some lots are overgrown with bush and trees which pose a threat to the residents as criminals may want to hide in these bush and prey on vulnerable people and take advantage of these people living in the area or those visiting.

The Town Council will be informed of the overgrown lots.
