Friday, July 31st, 2015. Aaron Humes Reporting: Supreme Court Justice Courtney Abel reportedly entertained the parties in the case between the Belize Grassroots Youth Empowerment Association (BGYEA) and the Government of Belize this morning.
A decision is pending on the claim made by Government attorney Rodwell Williams that his opponent, Audrey Matura-Shepherd, violated the terms of the mediation agreement by speaking prematurely to the press.
She contends through attorney Godfrey Smith that breach of confidentiality only applies to other court proceedings, not public pronouncements. The decision was reserved but we can confirm that the parties were back in court this morning.
However, Matura-Shepherd declined to comment and we have not been able to reach Leslie Mendez, who substituted for Smith at court today. We will continue to follow this story.
