By BBN Staff: Yesterday, Minister of National Emergency Management Edmond Castro received a donation of US $50,000 from the Government of Chile for the National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO) to assist with ongoing hurricane recovery efforts in the Agriculture Sector, specifically for small farmers impacted by Hurricane Earl.
The donation was presented by Chile’s Ambassador to Belize resident in El Salvador, Maria Inez Ruz. Also present was Chile’s Honorary Consul in Belize H.E. Joe Mena. The groundwork for the donation was done by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), whose representative in Belize is Christian Salazar, who was also on hand for the presentation.
