By BBN Staff: The Office of the Prime Minister issued a press release this afternoon informing that Prime Minister Dean Barrow will not be returning to the country today as originally planned.
According to the release, PM Barrow was experiencing symptoms seemingly consistent with viral gastroenteritis prior to his departure to New York and had to be admitted to the Belize Medical Associates overnight last Thursday.
“The symptoms have persisted during his travel and he saw a doctor and was advised to run tests, some of which could not have been diagnosed in Belize. For this reason, PM’s return is delayed until Sunday, 11th December 2016,” the release adds.
Deputy Prime Minister, Patrick Faber will continue to act as Prime Minister during his absence, and the signing of the United Nation Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC) and the meeting of the House of Representatives will proceed.
