By BBN Staff: The administration of Prime Minister Dean Barrow will finally see the appointment of a 13th senator which had been promised in the 2008 UDP manifesto.
However, that 13th senator will not be selected by PM Barrow but instead by the NGO community.
Today we have confirmed that there were 7 applications for the post but only one was not approved.
One applicant was Pablo Collado, he was nominated by his organization , “Adopt a Child With A Disability.”
Another more popular nominee was, Janelle Chanona, Vice President of OCEANA.
Edilberto Romero, was also nominated by Bacongo.
Osmany Salas, was also nomintated by the BTIA.
Donovan Reneau, was nominated by the Belize Council for the Visually Impaired.
Valdemar Andrade, was nominated by the Turneffe Atoll Sustainability Association.
The election is scheduled for next Tuesday.
