Tuesday, August 4th, 2015. BMG: Residents of Belize City are on notice that drinking alcohol in public and loitering are no longer to be tolerated.
Belize City’s Southside Division, commanded by Senior Superintendent Chester Williams, is plagued with crime.
Williams, who is also an attorney, will be using a new strategy to try and alleviate this problem that has been a nuisance to the Southside for so long and also to free up officers to tackle greater problems.
Warning letters will be carried around by officers on patrol and given to anyone seen drinking in public or loitering, informing them of the consequences of their actions if they are caught again.
Sr. Supt Williams said that he is currently drafting generic letters that will be given to the officers on patrol, and come next month, they will start enforcing the public drinking and loitering laws.
