New ambulance for Dangriga

By BBN Staff: The Southern Regional Hospital in Dangriga is set to receive a used ambulance through the help of a Canadian chiropractor and coordinated efforts between the Rotary Clubs in both countries.Roman Bayrock, the Canadian chiropractor who has done other charitable works in Belize over the last few years, paid for the ambulance and the Edmonton Riverview Rotary Club in Canada is helping to pay and get the ambulance to Belize.

The ambulance was recently decommissioned in Alberta, Canada, having clocked over 200,000 kilometers but now it will be used to transport patients to the Southern Regional Hospital. Bayrock will deliver the ambulance himself.

“Dangriga is one of the few town that has a hospital and they have two ambulances there and both ambulances are broken and they can’t afford to fix them,” Bayrock said. He will also bring supplies ranging from computers, school equipment, shoes and sewing machines.

The Ministry of Health has also reportedly thanked Bayrock for his kind contribution. Judith Williams, a member of the Dangriga Rotary Club, said the ambulance would make a huge difference in saving lives.

Bayrock will leave from Edmonton, Canada for Miami, where the ambulance will be shipped via barge, on January 15. Shipping will take about five days.  This is not the first ambulance Bayrock has delivered to the country. In a previous mission to Belize, Bayrock delivered another ambulance, now part of the fleet in Belize City.
