By BBN Staff: Even with Belize’s economy facing incredible odds last year the tourism industry stood more firm than it has in two decades with over one million cruise tourism visitors in 2016.
Cruise tourism saw an increase of 4.9% with October boasting the highest or 38% of visitors.
According to the Belize Tourism Board (BTB), last year was a record breaking year which recorded the most tourist arrivals since 1997.
Overnight arrivals accounted for 385,583 visitors which is a dramatic increase of 45,000 in 2015.
Interestingly from January to October showed continued increases with
a peak of 27% in September while the last two months of theyear saw a decline on an average of 1.8%.
