By BBN Staff: At this morning’s Sitting of the House of Representatives, Minister Michael Finnegan rose at the start of the meeting to introduce a motion to have the area representative Julius Espat returned to the house.
However Deputy Prime Minister, Patrick Faber rose explaining that while he supports the motion it must be certain that if allowed, Espat will display respect for the house.
According to Leader of the Opposition John Briceno, he saw no reason for Faber’s comment as Espat has already paid the price for his error.
This comes after Espat was kicked out by then house speaker Micheal Peyrefitte in August of 2016. Peyreffitte claimed that Espat was being disrespectful to the House after he rose to speak on the Auditor General’s Special Audit on the corruption at the Immigration Department.
Espat was ordered out of the chambers, but was carried out by numerous police officers. Story here:http://www.
Espat apologized for the incident and wrote a letter to the new house speaker Laura Longsworth expressing respect for the chair.
