Friday, August 14th, 2015. BMG: The Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League will kick off on Saturday, August 15th, continuing throughout the week with game one of a series between Mexico’s Queretaro and our Verdes F.C. at the F.F.B. Stadium being played on Tuesday, August 18.
This will mark the first time in 7 years that Belize will participate in the League and in a press conference held yesterday, the FFB’s Secretary General, Michael Blease, and General Manager of the Premier League, William Moguel, shared their excitement for the tournament’s return.
Blease said it is historic for the federation, Verdes and the entire country that a home game will be played by a Belizean team in the Champions League. He went on to say that a lot has been invested into preparing the field and it is now ready as it has reached the required standards.
Moguel said that the league is still developing and will continue to get better as well as the clubs that participate. He went on to thank everyone for their support, including the media, the fans and Verdes Football Club and asked for continuing support.
