Tuesday, June 23, 2015. BMG: This Friday’s sitting of the House of Representatives is expected to be a fiery one with many issues on the agenda. In that light, the National Protected Area System Act was scheduled to go to the House of Representatives on Friday, but The Association of Protected Areas Management Organizations (APAMO) objected due to insufficient communication. 
Now the government has made clear its intentions to merge funds from organizations under APAMO but still no system has been put in place to facilitate the usage and breakdown of the monies.
Chairman of APAMO, Anthony Hislop, said that consultations have taken place but that they were a waste of time and money as they came to no sensible conclusion.
Hislop went on to say: “And even at the Radisson when we had that last consultation it was said that yes, that’s another step that needs to be taken but legislation is going through and all these pieces of the puzzle haven’t been fitted yet.” APAMO’s Executive Director, Jose Perez also spoke on the matter, saying that there are a number of factors that APAMO feels need to be put in place as ‘enabling environment’ for any reform to happen and occur smoothly.
Perez closed by saying: “That includes a fee policy and a mechanism which is still incomplete, as far as we know.”
