Saturday, August 22nd, 2015. Aaron Humes Reporting: Dangriga Police are investigating an apparent robbery at Polanco’s Farm at Mile 26, Hummingbird Highway, during which a 15 year old identified as Briaton Tharique Polanco was apparently shot dead.
According to 64 year old Bernard Usher, he was in his room at the residence around 8:30 a.m. on Friday when three masked men, who appeared to be Hispanic, entered armed with machetes. They tied him up, ransacked the room and took his Smart Samsug phone, #650-2421 valued at $75 and a machete.
Usher freed himself and went to his boss’s house on the farm and upon entering he was met by another armed Hispanic man who tied him up and continued to search the house.
Usher says he heard a single gunshot and upon freeing himself went outside where he found the teen motionless. Also reported stolen from the residence were a 12-gauge New England single action shotgun and some 12 gauge cartridges, (1) 19″ SanSui Flat Screen Television, a Sony DVD player and about $3,000 in cash.
The items were recovered in the area and Tharique was transported to the Southern Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Police investigations continue.
