Tuesday, September 8th, 2015. Aaron Humes Reporting: Belize’s national football team has reached the end of the road, unable to get their desired result at home versus Canada in tonight’s World Cup qualifying match. Belize Jaguars 2 300x222 Belize out of World Cup after battling draw vs Canada

Deon McCauley’s 21st international goal for Belize in the 26th minute put Belize in control early, but Will Johnson hit in the 45th minute to make the road even tougher going into half time.

The second half saw Belize miss multiple chances, and an improved display earned us credit, but not advancement, as Canada won by aggregate 4-1 at the final whistle.

This is the furthest Belize has advanced in World Cup qualifying since becoming a full international team. The Jaguars now look ahead to the 2016 Central American Cup.

Canada will join El Salvador, who are on the verge of defeating Curacao, in Group A in Round 4 along with Mexico and Honduras.

In other qualifying results, Haiti swept past Grenada 3-0 (6-1 aggregate), Aruba beat St. Vincent and the Grenadines 2-1 tonight but lost the tie on aggregate 3-2; El Salvador leads Curacao in the second half 1-0 and 2-0 in the tie; and Jamaica and Nicaragua are on knife edge with Jamaica 1-0 up and tied 3-3 on aggregate after a 3-2 Nicaragua win in Kingston.
