Friday, September 11th, 2015. BMG: Placencia Police are currently investigating a burglary at the business place of 40-year-old Albert Loewen. In that incident more than $8,000 was stolen and the security guard was stabbed.
Loewen, a resident of the Maya Beach area, reported that between the hours of 10:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. on Tuesday night, his security guard, a 71-year-old Salvadoran national, was attacked from behind by two male persons carrying a gun and a knife.
One of the robbers stabbed him to the left thigh before tying him up, taking his cellphone, then breaking into the building and stealing a small black and grey safe containing US $4000 and BZ $800.
The security guard was able to free himself from underneath a wheel barrow where he was placed by the culprits and called the police.
