Tuesday, September 15th, 2015. Aaron Humes Reporting: The Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital will soon have a center for spiritual health with the construction of an ecumenical chapel
funded by the Government and Council of Churches for $150,000.
The Methodist Church’s Reverend Roosevelt Papouloute described it as a place of “reflection and meditation”, a site for prayer and spiritual upliftment, as well as for funeral services in special circumstances.
C.E.O. of K.H.M.H., Doctor Adrian Coye, told News 5 that the chapel is a gift to the Belizean populace and allows the national referral hospital to offer all aspects of health. He admits that Belize is really in need of a lot of help from the Almighty.
“We have so many challenges now that we have never experienced before and every day we are to question why. However, those who come here to get better are not just the patients alone—there are the patients and their families, their friends, their colleagues.
In many hospitals around the world, there is a place such as what we are building here today; there is a place where you can go and quietly reflect.”
