Moreno, who himself is no stranger to the police and has had a few run-ins with the authorities in his past, claims he has changed his ways since the life-altering traffic accident that almost left him paralyzed back in 2011.

Some may recall that Moreno, who was accused of attempted murder, was one of two prisoners traveling in a prison van in May 2011 that overturned at mile 37 on the Northern Highway. Since he was acquitted, Morena says he has tried to sustain himself and his family by opening a small business but trouble came knocking on his doors on Sunday.

Moreno recounted that a person he knew arrived at his house asking to borrow some DVD’s. After the exchange, he was lured outside by the same person and as he did so, two other men came from behind his house and started inflicting wounds with a machete.

While his attackers fled the area, Moreno sustained chop wounds to the hands, arm and left temple and his injuries are considered grievous harm.

He believes that because he had a dark past, that police are dragging their feet in getting him justice. He says he has lodged a complaint against his attackers and police are yet to launch an investigation in the matter.

Moreno says he hopes that by coming out to the media, pressure will mount at the doors of the Police Department so that he and his family can get justice. Meanwhile, Moreno says he is fearing for his life.
