Thursday, October 15th 2015. BMG: A police department memo from Commissioner of Police (ComPol) Allen Whylie, ordering all formations to immediately cease and desist from vehicular checkpoints, has leaked.

The memo is dated October 13th and is signed by Operations Commander Kieth Lino on the ComPol’s behalf.

According to the memo, any formation that wants to perform any checkpoint must get direct approval from the ComPol.

BMG has spoken to several senior officers within the Department who say the memo is unprecedented and none like it has been issued before.

The memo had led many to speculate that the checkpoints have been cleared to allow for free passage for immigrants from across the border to vote in the November 4th general election.

Earlier this week BMG made several attempts to contact the Election and Boundaries Department to seek information on the voters list but was told everyone was busy. There have also been reports this week of Election and Boundaries’ employees working late hours into the night and the Opposition has even accused the Department of suspicious behaviour.

BMG also made an attempt to contact ComPol Whylie for clarification on his orders but recieved no response.

The memo says all formations must desist from checkpoints until they receive further instructions.
