BELMOPAN: October 16, 2015: Close to 50 personnel of Non-Government and Community Based Organizations in the Toledo District have been trained to continue the mandate of their respective agencies in pursuit of social, economic, and environmental development of Toledo.
This achievement was made possible thanks to the Government of Belize who funded the project entitled “Organizational Strengthening” at a total cost of $102 thousand dollars; and implemented by the Belize Social Investment Fund as part of its mandate to work in line with the Government’s poverty alleviation strategy. BSIF is an implementing agency of the Government of Belize. In recognition of strengthening and building capacity with NGOs and CBOs in Toledo, the Belize Social Investment Fund (BSIF) collaborated with the University of the West Indies Open Campus Belize and in this regard, staff members of PLENTY Belize were trained and obtained a Certificate of Completion as trainers issued by UWI Open Campus Belize.
To this end, the newly qualified trainers of PLENTY Belize using the Training Manual developed by the University of the West Indies Open Campus Belize conducted three cycles of workshops and thus 12 workshops were offered to members of local community organizations. Topics included Group Facilitation Techniques/Adult Learning Theory, Conflict Resolution, Records Management, Management Skills, Training Evaluations and Customer Services. Graduation ceremonies for the new trainers of Non-Government and Community Based Organizations will be held tomorrow at 9:a.m.
