Thursday, October 29th, 2015. BMG: Honorable Pablo Marin, the Minister of Health and Laura Longsworth, President of the Belize Cancer Society, signed an agreement this morning with Merida’s Ministry of Health for the treatment of Belizean cancer patients under the age of 18.
This agreement will allow referred children to receive treatment in Merida with costs covered by a grant from the Social Security Board (SSB). Services will include: specialist consultations, hospitalization, chemotherapy, biopsy, imaging, including CT scans and ultrasounds among others.
The signing took place 9:00 this morning at the Mexican Embassy in Belmopan City and was witnessed by Ambassador Carlos Quesnel Melendez and representative of the SSB, Leticia Vega.
