Saturday, November 21st, 2015. Aaron Humes Reporting: Reports to BMG are that the Human Services Department has arranged to move two year old Nina Charlotte Barrera-Perez, the child at the center of an international custody battle, into the care of foster parents in Orange Walk Town.
Her mother, 22 year old Analiz Perez Gutierrez, agreed to the arrangement and will be allowed visitation, but is barred from removing her from her new home.
Last week Friday, the child was removed from the custody of her mother, Analiz Gutierrez, by the Human Services Department, acting on a request from the Guatemalan central authority, after Gutierrez and the child’s father, a Guatemalan, were before a court in that country to determine custody when she improperly removed her daughter from the country.
A Belizean court, we understand, will only act to determine if the child was indeed removed improperly from Guatemalan jurisdiction; the custody battle is expected to play out in Guatemala. A local hearing is scheduled in the coming days.
