Monday, November 23, 2015. BMG: Mother of three Sharmaine Humes was killed in a fatal traffic accident on Sunday, November 1, between Miles 24 and 25 on the George Price Highway. Today, 25 year old Earl Pitts Jr. of Belama Phase 2 was read charges of manslaughter by negligence, causing death by careless conduct and driving without due care and attention in connection with the accident,
Senior Magistrate, Sharon Fraser only read the charges, which are indictable, and did not take a plea.
Pitts Junior being the driver of a Yukon GMC brown in color vehicle with license plate, BCC-51992 is accused of causing the death of the 33 year old. She was travelling along with Pitts Junior and two minor children ages 17 and 10.
Pitts told Police that whilst between Miles 24 and 25, he heard a bang and the vehicle started to swerve to the left side of the road causing it to flip about 3-5 times before it came to a stop on the highway.
All in the vehicle received various injuries, but Humes succumbed to her injuries 12 days later, on Friday, November 13, 2015 whilst receiving treatment.
A post mortem conducted on her body revealed that she died from head and body injuries as a consequence of road traffic accident. She was laid to rest this past Friday.
