Saturday, November 28th, 2015. Chrisbert Garcia Reporting: The University of Belize’s (UB) Toledo Campus held its annual Marketing Expo at the Punta Gorda Central Park yesterday, November 27th where extravagantly decorated booths and students in professional attire were offering original products and services for sale to the public.
As part of their marketing class at the university, the students were required to come up with creative ideas for a profitable business and left fully responsible to generate finances to bring them into fruition, with the goal of turning a profit at the end of the day.
Approximately 10 booths were at the park yesterday morning from 9:30 until 3:00 p.m., during which hundreds of people passed by to see the innovative businesses that were on display, including food joints, smoothie bars and ice cream parlors among others.
These businesses were created by the students specifically for that marketing class project but many of the ideas that were profitable are being considered to be propelled into full time ventures.
Lecturer responsible for coordinating the event was Shauna Arnold Sanchez.
