Monday, July 6th, 2015. Chrisbert Garcia Reporting: The People’s United Party held its quarterly National Party Council Meeting in Dangriga on Saturday, July 4th, where two resolutions were ratified: No to the International Court of Justice and supporting the Cervantes family in bringing justice for Don Ramon Cervantes Sr.
Another major item on the agenda was discussions on the upcoming bye-election on Wednesday, July 8th in which PUP’s Anthony Sabal and UDP’s Frank ‘Papa’ Mena will contest the seat for the Dangriga Division.
Busloads of party supporters from Punta Gorda, Independence, and Belize City (9 delegates from each constituency) gathered at the Ecumenical High School Auditorium to help chart the way forward for the party. Every constituency pledged support for the Dangriga bye-election and all of the standard bearers for the PUP will be in Dangriga on Wednesday in full strength.
Also present at the meeting was party leader Hon. Francis Fonseca and former party leader, Hon. John Briceno who had strong words for the UDP. One party supporter who was present at the meeting said that it was full of energy and excitement and unity was paramount in the presentations.
At the end of the meeting, Hon. Francis Fonseca and Hon. John Briceno declared a political war with the UDP.
