By BBN Staff: A collision of motorcycles on the Phillip Goldson Highway near Sandhill Village Saturday evening, resulted in the death of a 27-year-old male and the hospitalization of a 21-year-old.
Around 7:40 p.m. police responded to an area between miles 19 and 20 on the highway where they saw 27-year-old Kareem Arnold with severe injuries to his head and body, as well as 21-year-old Churchill Bernard and two extensively damaged motorcycles.
Investigation revealed that Bernard was riding his 600cc Suzuki Racing motorcycle in the direction of Orange Walk, when he attempted to overtake a van and collided into Arnold who was riding his Meilun motorcycle in the opposite direction.
The collision flung Arnold about 15 feet from his motorcycle and caused serious injuries to both riders. Arnold’s succumbed to his injuries on the scene and his body was taken to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital (KHMH), while Bernard was placed in an induced coma.
