By Aaron Humes: Our children are supposed to be innocent, but in modern times they have had to grow up far faster than they should. One aspect of that growth is becoming aware of the basic rights they have and are entitled to, as well as their responsibilities to society. To give them an avenue to learn those principles while having fun, the Office of the Special Envoy for Women and Children today launched its latest publication, titled “Having Fun with Rights: A Children’s Rights Activity Book”, which contains 26 pages of activities.
Mrs. Simplis Barrow said the publication took two years to put together and stresses that it teaches both rights and responsibilities.
Lending their support to this publication was the Ministry of Education, UNICEF and NCFC; the latter’s representatives, Ivan Yerovi and Margaret Nicholas, spoke at this morning’s launch.
The launch was attended by close to 500 school children at the Bliss Center for the Performing Arts.
