By Dalila Ical: Orange Walk police have confiscated a firearm and homemade weapon.
Authorities report that the first weapon, a chrome Taurus .45 ACP caliber firearm with serial number R001649 was found in an empty lot on Savannah Street in Orange Walk Town along with an empty extended magazine on Friday. The gun was wrapped in a black cloth and had been hidden under a log.
The second weapon, a homemade firearm was found by officers on Monday in another empty lot, this time in the San Jose Village. They found a barrel measuring eight inches in length and a width that can hold a 16 gauge cartridge. A second piece of pipe was found with an object resembling a firing pin.
No one has been arrested for either discovery as no one was in the area when they were found.
