By Aaron Humes: The People’s United Party intends to challenge what it calls the Sarstoon Law – regulations prohibiting travel in the Sarstoon River.
Not only is the party demanding that the Government rescind the regulations immediately, it plans to mount a Constitutional challenge to the regulations.
Additionally, the party is organizing its own expedition to the area next Saturday, May 7.
Leader of the Opposition John Briceño says the party has been shut out of recent decisions made by Government on Guatemala, especially meetings with the UK-Caribbean Forum and, announced today, meetings between the Foreign Ministers of Belize and Guatemala.
Deputy leader Cordel Hyde says plans are in place to meet immediately with the social partners to get their support.
