By Dalila Ical: There is still no trace of Zika in Belize but the Ministry of Health is remaining vigilant, the government informed today.
GOB said the Ministry of Health has received results from the Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA) of a sample which tested negative.
Another seven samples were sent during the weeks following April 12, of which six came back negative as well. These also tested negative for Dengue and Chikungunya.
So far Belize remains free of the Zika virus but government assures the public that the Ministry will “remain vigilant as we continue to thoroughly investigate any potential case.”
In the meantime, the public is asked to do their part by taking measures to eliminate mosquito breeding sites around their homes.
