By Aaron Humes: Today employees of the Social Security Board across the country had planned a shutdown of the organization’s operations at 3 in the afternoon.
In October of 2015, SSB employees had tried to get Government to attend to issues of their collective bargaining agreement, weeks before the general election.
That died down, however information to our news centre is that workers are up in arms again because three fellow employees were denied increments over aspects of their performance appraisal.
The news tonight, however, is that management appears to have stepped in and commenced meeting with staff to address these and other grievances.
As a result, when we visited the SSB office in Belize City there was no activity outside and an anonymous employee confirmed that the shutdown was no longer in effect.
We will continue to follow the story.
