By Aaron Humes: Nineteen year old Zane Pott, a construction worker of 2 and a half miles George Price Highway, pled guilty to burglary and theft when he appeared today before Magistrate Deborah Rogers.
Because he had no previous conviction for crimes of dishonesty, Pott was sentenced to 2 years for burglary and 12 months for theft. The sentences are to run concurrently, so Pott will only serve 2 years. Pott was also charged with damage to property.
But he pled not guilty to that charge. That case was adjourned until August 20. Between May 19 and May 20 Pott entered as a trespasser Horse and Carriage Tours, located on Coney Drive and stole one car battery.
In addition to that, Pott stole 2 car batteries from another location. Also, one of the car batteries he allegedly stole was found damaged under a jet ski. The police reported that they were on mobile patrol on Coney Drive when they saw Pott riding a bicycle with 2 batteries in his possession.
The police detained Pott and when they investigated they discovered that the batteries were stolen.
