Thursday, July 16th, 2015. Aaron Humes Reporting: The largest police division in Belize is no more – at least not in its current alignment. Eastern Police Division has been divided into three subdivisions: Eastern Police Division North (ED North), Eastern Police Division South (ED South) and Eastern Police Division Rural (ED Rural).
Eastern Police Division South’s jurisdiction covers from mile 6 on the George Price Highway south to the Caribbean Sea and north to the south bank of the Haulover Creek. This also includes both Police Precincts One & Two which remains the same.
The commanders are Senior Superintendent Chester Williams and deputy Senior Superintendent of Police Alden Dawson.
Eastern Police Division North’s jurisdiction covers from the the Haulover Bridge on the Philip Goldson Highway north and east to the sea and south to the north bank of the Haulover Creek.
This also includes both Police Precincts Three, Four and the Coastal areas (San Pedro & Caye Caulker) which remains the same. Assistant Commissioner of Police Dezerie Phillips is the Officer Commanding and her deputy is Senior Superintendent Alford Grinage.
Eastern Police Division Rural’s jurisdiction covers from mile 6 to mile 33 on the George Price Highway, inclusive of all communities from Western Paradise to Mahogany Heights.
It also has jurisdiction for the areas from the Haulover Bridge to mile 38 on the Philip Goldson Highway – from Ladyville to Rhaburn Ridge.
