By Horace Palacio: Alistair King, a pioneering businessman who played a pivotal role in the economic development of southern Belize, died Saturday in Belize City after a period of illness. He was 74.
King, a beloved figure in his hometown of Punta Gorda, was known for his entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to the region. He founded a diverse range of successful businesses, including fuel stations and Fabrigas, the country’s leading gas supplier. King was also instrumental in facilitating oil exploration efforts in the Toledo district by US Capital Energy.
Beyond his business ventures, King was a respected community leader and philanthropist. His contributions to the economic and social fabric of southern Belize are widely acknowledged. Breaking Belize News extends its deepest condolences to the King family and the Toledo community.
King is survived by his wife, Edna, and their children. Funeral arrangements are pending. His passing marks the end of an era for Belizean business and leaves a void in the hearts of many in the Toledo community.
