By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Humana People to People Belize proudly announced a significant achievement in its endeavor to enhance community services through strategic partnerships and targeted grant allocations.
Today, at the Bull Frog Inn’s Conference Room, Humana People to People Belize sealed Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) with the Department of Youth Services and the Ministry of Agriculture.
This milestone event signifies a profound collaborative effort under the ‘Preparing local CSOs to improve their abilities to facilitate an enabling environment through training and service delivery’ (PLANTS) Project, funded by the European Union.
The PLANTS Project is designed to deliver essential government services via 7 community hubs established in the Stann Creek and Toledo Districts.
The signing of these 2 MOUs ensures the seamless integration of services from government ministries through these hubs, thereby empowering local communities by providing vital resources and fostering sustainable development.
The event also marked the allocation of three third-party grants to Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) to bolster their service provision in the target districts.
The grants were awarded to Citizens for Good Governance, Southern Emergency Services, and Toledo Maya Women Council.
Each organization received a grant of $22,000 BZD, enabling them to expand their services and initiatives in critical areas such as health, digital literacy, and good governance.
These funds are poised to significantly amplify their impact within their communities.
Eric Cal, Project Manager at Humana People to People Belize, expressed his thoughts on the occasion, “”These partnerships and grants are essential steps in our mission to build sustainable communities. By integrating government services with our community hubs, we ensure that crucial resources reach those who need them most. We are grateful to the European Union for their support and to our partners for their collaboration in making this vision a reality.”
Humana People to People Belize continues to stride forward in its commitment to creating resilient and thriving communities, setting a commendable example for collaborative development efforts in Belize.
