By Breaking Belize News Staff: Police have reportedly increased presence in Santa Elena Town following multiple shootings and Thursday’s murder of Asian Businessman Sheng Wen Wu.
The recent shootings appear to be caused by a feud between rival groups and previously led to the shooting of David Galindo on Saturday, June 1.
Galindo is reportedly listed in a critical condition.
Police are investigating that shooting as well as the shooting death of Wu that occurred around 3 a.m. on Thursday.
Wu arrived at his home and as he exited his Toyota 4Runner, he was approached by two men on a black motorcycle.
One of the culprits had a nine-millimeter firearm and demanded money.
Wu reportedly handed over the money and began running toward the Hawkesworth Bridge, but the culprits pursued him.
The culprits caught up to him and fired several shots at him, killing him.
The bandits then escaped.
The surge in violence has shaken the Santa Elena community.
