By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Belize’s power forward Josiah Moseley was voted Group Phase MVP for his superb performance in Belize’s first three games at FIBA U18 AmeriCup.
“In a group with 3 top 20 teams in the world… and the mighty USA, our boy won MVP Of the group phase! Congrats Josiah!,” Belize Basketball Federation President Jacob Leslie said in a social media post on Thursday.
Moseley’s per game efficiency rating was 23.3. The Belizean power forward averaged 21.7 points per game scoring 31 against Brazil, 11 against the United States and 23 against Argentina. Moseley also grabbed 7.7 rebounds per game and made 2.3 assists per game.
Moseley topped players like the United States’ Darius Acuff, Jr., Argentina’s Tyler Kropp, Canada’s Tristan Beckford, and the Dominican Republic’s Lucas Morillo.
Belize’s Douglas Langford (18.7) placed fourth in efficiency behind Moseley, Kropp (23.0), and Morillo (20.7).
