Landslides alert issued for areas in Toledo

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: The National Hydrological Service of Belize has issued landslide alert for several communities in Toledo,

“Soil moisture conditions and projected rainfall for the South of the country, specifically the Toledo District are favourable for landslide(s) to occur,” it said.

The following communities are asked to remain alert: Blue Creek, Santa Theresa, Otoxha, San Benito Poite, San Jose, Na Luum Cah and Cadenas in the Toledo District.

Residents are urged to monitor the weather conditions in your area and remain alert.

You can monitor for landslide warning signs (rocks, earth, or other materials moving down a slope) and ensure you have an evacuation plan.
